2020 Bullet Journal Set-Up | Minimal, Easy & Effective

Compared to the rest of the bullet-journal bloggers I am a bit late with my 2020 bullet journal set-up. But I have got it here eventually and that’s all that matters! If you want to take a look into how I organise my life then this post is for you. It’s an overview of the primary pages in my bullet journal.

The notebook I am using to journal in is the Essentials Dotted Grid Notebook. Last year I used the Leuttchturm but the pages had really bad ghosting. The Essentials notebook has higher gsm and has so far been better than the Leuttchturm in terms of ghosting and bleeding. For Christmas this year I did receive some more stationary, including Stabilo Boss Pastel Highlighters which I used throughout this set-up. Pink is my accent colour – as you will come to see!

The first two pages of this set-up are my reading trackers. I don’t have enough lines for 100 books but I will probably use two bullet journals this year so it doesn’t matter. Also I will be using Goodreads to record my book-reading! If you want to be friends with me on there my username is kittyjadeblog. I’m never very active on there but I would still appreciate your support.

I didn’t make a cover page – just went straight into the set-up. My word of the year is Lykke so I included this in the first few pages as a reminder. On the left page is my key. I hardly use it because I know my key like the back of my hand now. It fills space and looks nice though!

Then we move on to my future log. I’ve left as much planning space as possible so it doesn’t look particularly ‘aesthetic’. I kept three months to a page which meant this filled up four pages in total.

This 2020 page looks useless but it is going to a good meditation. Every time a good thing happens next year I’m going to jot it down on this double page. By the end of the year it will be crammed with my achievements or happy memories. I don’t think it’s arrogant to be proud of achieving something. Even the small things like ticking off my to-do list!

If you are a regular reader you will be aware of my goals already (I made into a post with Sophie’s Corner) but writing them down on paper makes it feel more definite. I only have 5 main goals but I can use a goals page to plan them out in small stages!

My travel tracker is hopefully going to be very full by the end of the year! I would really like to visit Italy and I’ve already booked a camping trip in Scotland. Even the small destinations, I would like to write them down. The first two columns are the date and place, and the final column will be favourite memory of that day (which I think is more important than the ‘money spent on trip’ category)

The most used out of all of these spreads will be ‘blog post ideas’. I want to completely cram this page so that when I have no ideas I can take a look at this page and find some! Maybe one page won’t be enough, but the page on the left is blank just in case! If you have any ideas for blog posts you’d like to see from me in the new year, leave them in the comments or DM me on Instagram.

And that’s it for the set-up! I had so many spread ideas but decided to keep in minimal. I know that I won’t be able to keep up with loads of spreads (even these might be too much aha) I hope that you all have a great year – organised or not!

  1. Ooh I love your bullet journal setup, it’s so pretty! I haven’t gotten a Goodreads account yet but I’m thinking about starting one soon for 2020 to keep better track of what I’m reading 💛
