Bookish Rambles | Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, Breaking Dawn

Hello! Welcome back to my blog.

It’s been a while since the last ‘Bookish Rambles’. You are in need of an update! You may be aware of my recent reads, from my Instagram story. So, let’s talk about the Twilight saga: the books, films and which are better (the books, obviously, that’s no surprise 😂). It took me under a month to read them all. From the middle of May until the 5th June. Considering all of them are over 300 pages (with one 700 pages) I think is an achievement. However, I do get through books rapidly!

It was the other night when I watched all the films with my best friend. I always try to read the books prior to the films, and I do keep quite strictly to that rule.

Anyways, Twilight (book one)

The first book was really good to did my teeth into. I think it took less than three days to read it. It was a great introduction to the characters, accompanied by a bit of action. I love looking back to this book, and how far Bella and Edward progressed with their relationship (no spoilers!).

A character I really love is Alice. I could imagine her a great mother, though she sadly won’t get that chance 😓. I grew quite attached to her, so anything that put her in danger made me anxious.

To begin with, I didn’t like Jacob. I thought he was selfish and ignorant – though the last book and film changed my opinion. Though, I still don’t forgive him for showing off in front of Edward and pining after Bella. She really did not need that drama in her (already complicated) life!

New Moon (book two)

My friend and I agree that this film was the most boring. You certainly can’t skip the book: it’s full of very important advances to the overall plot. Lacking action but still very enjoyable.

Eclipse

The third book in the series was amazing. Full of action, and I can’t spoil the big event(s) that are announced. Reading from Bella’s perspective was really interesting.

Breaking Dawn

The finale book was my favourite of them all. It started off with some really happy events that then took a twist. The shift from Bella to Jacob’s viewpoint helped progress the plot a lot faster and give me a new opinion on both characters.

If you’ve not read the books are watched the film, this is NOT a spoiler: Isle Esme is so beautiful. Obviously, it is an opinion thing. However it’s hard to argue!

I’m glad the film advanced some scenes that the book didn’t go into detail with. Yet, the film didn’t go into detail with some parts of the book. Overall, it worked okay. I love both, but books with always be my preferred option! (is that a surprise by now?😂).

I imagined some of the Cullens completely different to the film (in appearance). Jasper was probably the biggest shock. I imagined him with cropped, light brown hair. Yet he actually had shaggy, ginger-brown hair. All were described in the book, but we do forget details as we go along!

I’m going to the leave the post here for today; I’m afraid of sharing anymore spoilers! Hopefully you’ll get a chance to read this saga, if you haven’t already. I recommend it to anyone! The films may be easier for you to get access too, and I highly enjoyed those too.

Happy reading/watching or whatever you are doing today!

  1. I love the Twilight series- I just got my friend to get into it too! I agree the movies didn’t really do the books justice especially New Moon which was quite disappointing compared to the book.

    • I’m glad you do! They are excellent. New Moon was disappointing… I suppose we get that with all book to film series’ though! For example, Harry Potter books are much more interesting.
Thank you for your comment 🙂

      • Yeah I agree I felt like the Harry Potter movies sort of went downhill. I hope someday they make it into a TV show and make it exactly like the book- although that’s probably not going to happen.

  2. I love twilight, and I love Alice to but Rose is my favorite I have her personality . I also like the books better than the movie’s because there is more details and you know more what the person is feeling!
