About

Hi! I’m Catherine, and this is Kitty Jade Blog.

I started blogging when I was 9 (yikes) and I had this pen name ‘Kitty Jade’ which explains why my site is so named! Although I am not currently an aspiring writer, it is one of my great comforts to blurt out my emotions in a not-so-personal diary. Psychoanalyse as you wish.

I’m currently in Year 12, studying French, English Literature, Geography and History A-Levels. I have always loved being in school. Besides my academic endeavours, I also enjoy crocheting, knitting, reading, playing guitar, going to concerts, walking and volunteering at Brownies. Currently my life is a very hectic balance between sixth form, work, social life and Girlguiding but, on the other side of lockdown, I am grateful to be able to do all of these things.

I don’t have social media, besides Pinterest, for the sake of my mental health and productivity but I still enjoy having a digital record. That is what this aims to be, in both private and public blog posts. I don’t know what I could post for it to be worthy of your reading and so I am confident that anyone who has taken the time to seek out this website is a friend.

Lots of love,

Catherine

  1. Hi. Cath-erin. 🙂 ‘Found you commenting on another Brit’s blog and decided to take a peak. I have only scratched the surface; but I am a sucker for bookworms (as my Chat Café space will show) and mildly intrigued. I am a terrible reader, myself…more of a creator/artist, currently writing and developing some of my own would-be books.

So, why the name divide? And, what…who…why? is Kitty Jade? I would guess a combination of a cat lover and a precious stone you favor. But, I am curious about the origin story. Could Kitty Jade be your Jane Eyre? 😛 Or, your Tom Sawyer?

    • Hello. Reading would definitely help you with your writings, if you could find time! Kitty Jade is a name I’ve loved since I was very young. I would hate to use my name as a title for this blog: so I guess that what you’re saying is right – it’s my alter-ego. Kitty Jade is the person I am when I’m writing and it suddenly makes me feel more confident 🙃 Thank you for your interesting questions and I hope to see you on my blog again!

      • I find reading helps a little, but, it’s hard for me to take time to read when I want and need to get so much else done. As a very creative person starved for activity, making time for reading is like leaving a car parked in the garage. If I’m not writing/creating, reading instead, I am losing creation time. But, I have been doing more reading in recent years, for calming purposes, mostly.

  4. Hi, Kitty Jade! Hope you’ve been doing well lately. I was just noticing that whenever you post the ‘Like’ button and the ‘Comment’ button are always disabled so nobody can like or comment on your posts. I was just wondering if you knew that because it seems like in some of your posts you’ll ask people questions or say ‘Let me know in the comments.’ Anyway, just wanted to let you know in case you didn’t! 🙂

Have a wonderful rest of your week!

  5. Hiya Catherine, missed chatting to you! I saw your little update on your ‘about’ section so i just knew we had to catch up!! How are you?? :)) I haven’t posted on my blog in soo long and I dearly miss it, but I definitely want to come back – but you know how A Levels can be lol! I love your subject combination, very versatile and I can tell you’re an essay person like me 😉 I’m doing English Literature too – I guess it’s the blogging influence! Besides that, I’m doing Economics and Politics aswell. What texts are you doing for English??

    • Zainab! Lovely to hear from you. I’ve just began getting in touch with one of my old blogging friends via WhatsApp and it’s been so meaningful to reignite those old connections. What a coincidence that I hear from you too ❤ I've been trying to inwardly focus and I think it's made the things that matter the most to me become magnetic.
My mocks are next week, I need to knuckle down and get some work done. I'm definitely an essay person! It's so exciting that we can study the subjects that we love the most. Politics really interests me, although the option isn't offered at my sixth form, there's a heavy political element to all of my subjects!
I'm on AQA English Lit B so we have and are currently studying: Othello (LOVE IT), Death of a Salesman (I like Miller), The Kite Runner (THE BEST!!!!!!), The Handmaid's Tale (ugh) and Keats' poetry. How about you?
I sometimes check my Insta DMs via my laptop (haha so lame) so if you feel comfortable and would like to exchange numbers we can keep up more frequent contact, a bit like penpals ✨
Best of luck with everything you're up to!! xxx
