Hello, welcome back to my blog!
Today I will be answering some questions that you asked me on my Instagram story: all about books and reading. I found them all very good, but only picked ten! I hope you enjoy π
Do you have a certain place at home for reading?
Usually my bedroom where I can block out any noises, though the garden can be nice. My bed is very comfy and no-one can disturb me there!
Bookmark or random piece of paper?
You may have seen my cute beaded bookmark in my Instagram photos. I will always use that one, but if I don’t have it with me I’ll use a random piece of paper.
Can you stop reading at any point in time or do you have to stop at a certain point, page or chapter?
I try to read until a page ending in 00 (like 100, 200) though sometimes I have to put my book down at the end of a paragraph.
Do you eat or drink while reading?
I sometimes have chewing gum, or a glass of water. Though when I am drinking, I get a bit distracted from the book because I’m concentrating on two things.
Can you read whilst listening to music or watching TV?
I can read on the bus or train, though most of the conversation is blurred over eachother. However, at home, I can’t read with music or TV in the background. Music is too distracting and even ‘calm’ music is too much for me π
One book at a time, or several at once?
Just one at a time. I means I can finish them faster, usually.
Reading at home or everywhere?
Wherever I can! Library, train, social occasions even…
Do you read ahead or skip pages?
I do read very fast and miss things sometimes but I never skip pages!
Reading out loud or silently in your head?
Always silently, I don’t want people hearing the context of some of the books I read…
Breaking the spine or keeping it new?
Most of the books I read are borrowed from the library so I have to keep them in good condition! If it’s my own, I read it comfortably. If that breaks the spine then it’s just unfortunate. Though I try to keep them new so that I can give them to a charity shop with it looking nice.
Thank you for reading! I would love to hear your answers to these questions in the comments below.
I hope you have a lovely day!

I can never read while listening to music or watching TV I don’t know how people can do that- I envy the multitasking skills of people like that. Really interesting post!

Thank you very much, Pooja. I prefer to concentrate on the book, however…

This is a great post! I relate so much with background noise while reading. I can block out things like people talking or noises in a public place, but there’s no way I could ever listen to music through earbuds while reading. My head hurts just thinking about it! π

Thank you! In public places itβs all a murmur, but if I can hear one personβs conversation it becomes tricky. I hope you enjoy some reading time soon π

Very cool Q&A! I use the library for books a lot too. I used to be able to read on the train because I did that years ago when I had to commute by train, but I don’t think I could do it now. I can’t listen to music when reading either. I like silence to focus and concentrate, to fully enjoy the book (preferably with tea & chocolate π) .

Thank you very much, Caz! Silence is my favourite noise (sounds slightly poetic π).
