Book Reviews: The Fault In Our Stars, Blood Red Road

Hello, welcome back to my blog!

If you have been keeping up with my Goodreads, you will be aware that I have recently finished Blood Red Road and The Fault In Our Stars. Today, I would like to share with you my opinions on both of these books and why you should read them.

Blood Red Road

It took me a few chapters to really get interested in this book. The middle to the end of this book were the most exciting. The book was written in the perspective of Saba (the main protagonist). It was set in a dystopian and futuristic world where, of course, there is little education. The writer used abbreviations and misspelling of words to make the reader believe it was written, genuinely, by Saba. I thought this was a really interesting technique! However, at some points, the paragraphs did loose flow.

Yet, the story was interesting. The plot took the right amount of twists and turns to keep it interesting. I would recommend this book to any Hunger Games fans, if you are a quick reader. It isn’t my favourite book in the world. However, I am glad I read it because the characters were interesting and relatable.

The Fault In Our Stars

So I’ve finally read the most talked about YA novel out there! I now see what people talk about. I could see the death coming, as many people said it was sad. But, I’m keeping my review spoiler free.

I got very attached to both protagonists, and I would like to see more of ********s life in a sequel, maybe. It remains the best stand-alone book I’ve read this year. I read it in under 12 hours (with school, cello practising and everything in between).

John Green is an author I would like to read more of. ‘Turtles All The Way Down’ is next on the list. Do you have any opinions on it?

I tried to get hold of the film on Amazon Prime, but it is currently unavailable. Maybe I ought to rent it. Have you watched the film? I know it won’t be as good as the book, but I always like watching them!

As mentioned previously, I have started up a Goodreads account. It is motivating me to read a lot more. I can already see the improvement: I went from reading one or two a week to three of four! If you have chance, I would love to be ‘friends’ with you on there. I like being nosy and knowing what people are reading!

Have a great day, I hope y’all get a chance to read.

  1. I liked the film adaptation of The Fault In Our Stars so I’d quite like to check out the novel. What the heck is ‘Turtles All The Way Down’ about? I’m going to have to check that one out 😆 Hope you’re having a good weekend lovely.

    • I would love to watch the film adaptation, though it is not on Amazon Prime. TATWD is another YA novel by John Green.
I hope you are also spending your weekend relaxing!

  2. I loved tfios. And the best thing about John Green, his words are so impactful! There is something from every book that is written on my wall! And my favorite one is “My thoughts are like stars I cannot fathom into constellations”
