Monday 20th May 2019

The first day of Normandy, France was slightly uneventful. After travelling for half of the day, I went to explore the town I stayed in: Agon-Coutainville. I had a lovely afternoon at the beach and then a large dinner.

Tuesday 21st May 2019

My first full day of tourism! The first place I visited was a family-owned goats cheese farm. While I was there, there was an unexpected birth of a kid. I had to look away XD. Also, I got to try some of the cheese. My favourite was the chilli seasoned one!

Next stop was the German War cemetery. It certainly has its differences to the British one (which I visited later in the trip).

After a really interesting time at the German War Cemetery, I drove to Saint Mere Eglise. It’s a very interesting town. Home to the Airborne museum, which I luckily had a chance to visit. With me, I took an old digital camera which I couldn’t seem to take flash off. Instead, inside of the church, I used my disposable camera where I could easily turn flash off. However, I have not had the photos processed yet. Sorry!

If you are unaware, Saint Mere Eglise is where the soldier got stuck on the spire of the church, after failing a safe parachute landing. He played dead for around 6 hours before he was recused – scary! Also, it was one of the first towns to be liberated by the Nazis in WW2.

Whilst in this beautiful town, I had a mint diabolo (the drink which I am now obsessed with! I had to buy some sirop so I could enjoy this drink a home).

Before heading back to Coutainville, I indulged in a lemon ice-cream and bought some postcards and stamps. Thankfully, my French is good. So I could purchase these things with no confusion!

I arrived back in Coutainville and almost immediately travelled to the beach (which was only a few minutes walk from the hotel). The sunset was gorgeous.

You’ll have to wait and see what happened in day three. Because of the amount I did each day, I prefer to split it up than throw it all at you.
